Young People

We believe young people play an important role in the community. Young people are our future and we want to support them in making the most of their skills and abilities. We also aim to break down barriers between local young people and the wider community, helping people to engage with each other through mutually beneficial projects.

Our projects include:

Unique and Xclusive – 10-week programmes that focus on personal development, relationships and confidence-building.

Training & Qualifications – A young apprentice has recently completed a gym instructor course in record time. Other young people have gained NOCN’s, AQA’s and NVQ’s across a wide range of areas.

Young People’s Fitness Sessions – We have gym and fitness sessions for young people twice a week with fully qualified instructors. There are separate sessions available for young men and young women.

Driving Project – Young people have participated in a driving project where they gain a first aid certificate, and learn how to be a safe driver, passenger and pedestrian.

COBRA – A training group for our young volunteers running weekly in preparation for the Junior Youth Club.

Ace Project – 1:1 work with children who have been identified in school as needing extra support as part of the targeted youth work at Chislett.

Junior Youth Club – We have responded to the need for a club for young people aged 8-11yrs, where older young people volunteer. Young people have enjoyed a range of activities including; crafts, sports, games, refreshments & special events.

Chat & Chill – The centre hosts a youth group called Chat & Chill for young people with Autism and Asperger’s, meeting every Tuesday 6-9pm.
